Our Roots and Branches
Resurrection Tree is made up of friends, brought together by music, then bonded by shared experiences. Their individual upbringings, in Central/Southern Ohio, and Pennsylvania, influenced their musical choices. James Vanfossen writes, sings lead and harmony, and plays guitar and harmonica. Lori Lorenz writes, and sings lead and harmony. Toni Shutts writes, sings lead and harmony, and plays guitar and mandolin. Missy Belgen writes, sings, and plays violin, cello, and flute. Charlie Boyd slaps the bass.
JAMES VANFOSSEN
Guitars, harmonica, vocals
James grew up in Southern Ohio, with stints in Pennsylvania and Texas. He is a powerful songwriter.
LORI LORENZ
Vocalist
Lori Lorenz is a coal miners granddaughter, and her roots are deep in Southern Ohio. She's been writing songs and singing since she was nine.
TONI SHUTTS
Guitars, vocals
Toni was raised in Central Ohio, but she has a mountain heart. From a musical family who sang and played in the Columbus area while Toni was coming up, she gained an intense love of multi part harmony that drives her desire to make her own music.
MISSY BELGEN
Violin, cello, flute
If you asked the musical genie for an incredibly talented musician with a heart of gold, he would send you a Missy in a cloud of glitter. She brings joy and a true excitement for the music into our midst, and we are blessed to have found her.
CHARLIE BOYD
Upright lowdown bass
James and Charlie grew up together, and have played music together and separately most of their lives. It's an example of the special connection of love, and mutual respect that grounds Resurrection Tree.

EJ is our newest member, but he feels like an old friend. His guitar skills and musical instincts make him an invaluable cog in our fiery wheel.

And there are the songs you hear at the end of the show.. the ones that remind you of all the best parts, and allow you to remember all the emotions. We are Resurrection Tree, and we play all those songs. Come and listen.
